Strategy to return research activity in CMU Pittsburgh facilities

Email from Michael McQuade on May 22, 2020

The university is beginning a phased return of on-site research activities that must be performed on CMU premises. This process is beginning with a few pilot projects selected by the deans of each college or school to submit a plan for restarting on-site work (.docx) while adhering to university-wide requirements.

Please do not send unsolicited requests for return plans to deans or the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR). Project leaders who are tapped to participate in the pilot phase will be advised on the details of the submission and approval process.

Note: All researchers must continue to operate remotely until authorized to return to CMU premises.

Over the next several weeks, we will test, refine and demonstrate a process for safely performing research on CMU premises. Following these successful tests, subsequent phases will gradually expand access for additional research with the goal of eventually getting all research that must be done on CMU premises back on-site.
